Keith Whitley Was a New Traditionalist country vocalist and songwriter who steeped in bluegrass, and was on the way to stardom before his untimely death in 1989. He began singing as a child and he had learned how to play guitar by the time he was eight. He formed his first group, a bluegrass band, at age 13 and was one of the groundbreaking artists who expanded country music’s audience in the 1990s
